Activities for March

March is bringing fun filled activities with the celebration of Women's History Month, St. Patrick Day, Spring and Easter! Also you have the whole month to take your quarterly online test located in the Tests section.

For Women's History Month we will be working on scenes showing family members or close friends doing an activity.  We will use the artwork of Mary Cassatt as inspiration since she is one of the first and most well known woman artist. Visit the Current Lessons section for details.
Then we will undertake the task of drawing posters for Child Abuse Prevention week.  See the Art Contests section for more information.  Following will be the creation of leprechauns to celebrate St. Patrick's Day right before we go on recess to inaugurate the arrival of Spring and Easter.
Finally we close the month with looking at another famous woman artist, Georgia O'Keeffe, for inspiration to draw flowers and using Pablo Picasso's "Hand with Flowers" to sketch hands.

Activities for February

February is an exciting month for art students. Our schedule is packed.  We will first finish our Egyptian busts to celebrate Black History Month.  You can look at some of the finished products in our gallery section.

Then we will take time to reflect on how to conserve water and keep a clean and green environment by taking part in poster contests. Visit our Art Contests section for details.

Finally we will partake in the Valentine's Day festivities by creating cards inspired by the famous 'LOVE" image of Robert Indiana. Go to our Current lessons for more information on this activity.
