Activities for December 2018

Welcome December!  We are going to use resist techniques and watercolors to create personalized holiday cards.  While working on our cards we will be learning about the different way people celebrate the Holidays around the world. Read on for the details...

Activity
Create a Holiday Card   

Materials

·Red/Green/Blue/White Paper 9”X12”
·Pencil 
·White Crayon
·Art Sticks
·Watercolor Pencils
·Watercolor Markers

Steps

1) Design a holiday scene with a white crayon on a white paper
2) Use art sticks or watercolor pencils to color
3) Add details using watercolor markers and a black sharpie 
4) Glue the artwork on a folded red, green or blue paper

Activities for November 2018


November is here! During this month we are going to integrate Balance as one of the principles of design in our art work.  We are going to celebrate Native American Heritage Month and Thanksgiving by creating our own Leaf Mobile.  We are also going to work on more poster contests.

Activity

Create a Thankful Leaves Mobile

Materials

· White or Orange, yellow, brown papers various sizes

· Pencil

· Crayons

· Scissors

· Yarn

· Hole puncher

· Art Stix

Steps
1) Draw Leaf veins using a real leaf and crayons
2) Paint over with watercolors
3) Cut a huge main leaf
2) Draw and cut as many small leaves as you have reasons to be thankful for
3) Punch holes and thread the leaves to form a mobile

Activities for October 2018

Hello Fall! October brings a series of art activities. We are first going to continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage month by finishing our colorful reptiles.  Then we are going to work on the Red Ribbon Week and Walk Safe Poster Contests. The Doodle for Google Contest is optional.  Finally we are going to create our own Fall Klee Trees. Make sure you check the "Gallery" section of this blog to view some of your work. October is going to be fun!
