Activities for December 2021



It is December!  We are going to focus on colors to create personalized holiday cards.  While working on our cards we will be learning about the different ways people celebrate holidays around the world. Read on for the details...

1) Fold a white piece of paper in half
2) Design a holiday scene on the cover
3) Use markers or colored pencils to color
4) Write inside the card using the example below

Activities for November 2021

                                       

During the month of November we are going to integrate Balance and Symmetry as two design principles in our art work.  We are going to celebrate Native American Heritage Month and Thanksgiving by creating our own Native American Story Totem Poles.

Essential Question
What is the role of the Visual Arts in Ancient traditions?

A Totem Pole is an artistic way that some Pacific Northwest Coastal Native Americans use to tell a story.

"Each image carved into a totem pole represents a story and a recorded history. Creatures of the natural world — bears, fish, wolves, whales — are commonly present on the poles; as are mythical supernatural creatures, like the thunderbird or sea serpent. A totem pole is a complete family history, created to last eternity."

Hello Fall!. October brings a series of fun art activities. We are first going to continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage month by finishing our Hispanic Museum Dioramas.  Afterwards, we are going to celebrate the beginning of the Fall season by designing Zentangle style art pieces. Finally, an optional activity is to create your own Halloween Mask. October is going to be fun!
