We’ve seen some inspiring entries so far for this year’s Doodle for Google contest. The theme, When I grow up, I hope…, invites students to unleash their creativity through a unique doodle. The deadline is fast approaching (March 18, 2019) but there’s still time left to enter.

PRIZES: All entries will receive a FREE DROP t-shirt! In addition, thirteen first place winners, one from each County Commission District, will receive additional prizes and be recognized at a Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners meeting in May 2019. First place and honorable mention winning posters will be displayed in the lobby of the Stephen P. Clark Gov’t Center during water conservation month, April 2019.
What are the contest rules?
·Artwork must be original! Students are invited to use their talents to illustrate the importance of conserving water. Posters will be judged on creativity, relevance, legibility and adherence to guidelines. Posters containing computer-generated graphic, photographs, collages, 3-D artwork or trademarked art will be disqualified
· Posters submitted are NOT returned!

·All entries must contain an official entry form. Part I is filled out by the Art Teacher and Part II is filled out,

Code/Art is a non-for-profit organization whose
mission is to promote and increase the number of girls studying Computer Science and promote gender and racial diversity in Computer Science. For the past 2 years they have been organizing a digital art exhibition, all-girls coding competition called Code/Art
Miami, this competition is for girls in grades 4-12 interested in creative development through technology. Their proceeds from this annual event go to scholarships for girls studying computer science.
There are 5 categories for girls to participate in: Self Portrait with Pet, Animation, Interactive, 3D and Minecraft Mods. You can find additional information on the rules and
guidelines for the competition at
Code/Art Guidelines. Last year a Zaniac student won 1st place in the 3D Printing category with an Avengers Themed Chess Set. Project submission dates are April 28th and Competition Date is May 20th from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm @ University
of Miami Newman Alumni Center, 6200 San Amaro Dr. Coral Gables, Fl. 33146.
This is not only a fun and empowering event for girls but also a great opportunity to show that girls can be as great or greater at coding and technology than boys. We at Zaniac

- Specifications: Elementary School Category: All artwork must be original and 22" x 24" in size. Work may be done entirely in one medium or be of mixed media. Acceptable media include: any paint; ink; pen; crayon; pastels; photography; collage; any paper; canvas. Computer generated or digitally enhanced art will not be accepted at the elementary school level.
- Poster illustrations should encompass the following theme:

Examples of ecosystems are:
- Deserts (examples of plants in the desert)
- Tropical Rainforests (examples of plants in tropical rainforests)
- Grasslands (examples of plants in grasslands)
Assignment: 1) Choose an ecosystem
2) Draw on different colored construction paper different plants from that ecosystem
3) Trace, color, glue and paste on a background drawing of your ecosystem
Of course you can choose another ecosystem not listed here. Just make sure you follow the directions.

Anti-Bullying Poster Contest - "No Name-Calling"
Teen recording Artist, Karlee Roberts, invites all students (grades 5-12) to enter her annual No Name-Calling Poster Contest. Derived from her song and music video, "Call Me Whatever," the 2013 national poster contest encourages students to discover the universal facet of humanity while giving them the power to draw, paint, create, and express themselves to help spread awareness to others. Entries are now showcased at the Museum of Tolerance in New York. Other partners include international organizations "PACER", "Pop Beats Bullying", and "My Kindness Counts". There is not cost to enter. All entries must be postmarked no later than April 19, 2013. Posters will not be returned. Winners will be notified by May 2013.
