Activities for January 2019

Happy New Year 2019!  To celebrate the new year we are going to explore some of the Asian New Year's Celebration Traditions.  We will use shapes, symmetry and patterns and windmill engineering designs to create Windmill Origamis.  Scroll down for the lesson details.  You can participate in the "Every Drop Counts" poster contest.  See the Art Contest Section for information.

Activity
Create a Windmill Origami

Materials

· WhitePaper 8”X8”

· Water Container

· Colored Chalk

· Paper Clip

· Markers

· Scissors

· Glue Stick

Steps
1) Create a chalk print using these steps --> Chalk Prints

2) For 2nd and 3rd Graders follow the steps on the first video and diagram

3) For 4th and 5th Graders follow the steps on the second video and diagram

4) Use paper clips and pencils to finish the windmill
