Finally June is here!!! Activities for April


Spring has sprung with the month of April!  We are set to keep working on our hands and flower drawings while FSA/SAT tests are undergoing. Afterwards we embark on starting projects for Dr. Halloway and the Haitian Heritage Month exhibits.

Activities for March

March is bringing fun filled activities with the celebration of Women's History Month, St. Patrick Day, Spring and Easter! Also you have the whole month to take your quarterly online test located in the Tests section.

For Women's History Month we will be working on scenes showing family members or close friends doing an activity.  We will use the artwork of Mary Cassatt as inspiration since she is one of the first and most well known woman artist. Visit the Current Lessons section for details.
Then we will undertake the task of drawing posters for Child Abuse Prevention week.  See the Art Contests section for more information.  Following will be the creation of leprechauns to celebrate St. Patrick's Day right before we go on recess to inaugurate the arrival of Spring and Easter.
Finally we close the month with looking at another famous woman artist, Georgia O'Keeffe, for inspiration to draw flowers and using Pablo Picasso's "Hand with Flowers" to sketch hands.

Activities for February

February is an exciting month for art students. Our schedule is packed.  We will first finish our Egyptian busts to celebrate Black History Month.  You can look at some of the finished products in our gallery section.

Then we will take time to reflect on how to conserve water and keep a clean and green environment by taking part in poster contests. Visit our Art Contests section for details.

Finally we will partake in the Valentine's Day festivities by creating cards inspired by the famous 'LOVE" image of Robert Indiana. Go to our Current lessons for more information on this activity.

Activities for January

 

Happy New Year 2016!  To celebrate the new year we are going to make our own Chinese wish lanterns using principles of designs like pattern and contrast.  Visit the Current Lessons section for details.   

We will afterwards explore Egyptian art.  We will also celebrate Martin Luther King's Day on January 18 and aim at understanding the link between the African American Art of the past and today through Art Criticism and the related art careers.

Activities for December



Happy last month of the year!  Happy Holidays! We are going to use the skills learned so far to create holiday cards from different genres.  Visit the Current Lessons section for details.   

We will explore throughout our lesson the various types of celebrations during the winter holidays. 
Lastly we are going to take our 2nd Grading Period Online Test. Go to the Tests section to take it before January 15.

Activities for November


During the month of November we are going to integrate principles of designs in our art work. We are also specifically going to celebrate Native American Heritage Month and Thanksgiving.    


Our scrolls as seen in the Current Lessons section will depict a visual story as written by Native Americans.  Still in the Current Lessons section you will find the steps to create headresses and centerpieces to wear or display for Thanksgiving.
