Activities for January 2018

  

Happy New Year 2018!  To celebrate the new year we are going to explore the New Year Celebration Traditions of Japan.  We will use shapes, symmetry and patterns to design Japanese inspired Concentric Kirigami paper sculptures.  Scroll down for the lesson details.  Also you can participate in the "Every Drop Counts" poster contest.  See the Art Contest Section for information.

Create a Concentric Kirigami

Materials

· Assorted Colors Construction Papers 8”X8”

· Pencil

· Scissors

· Glue Stick

Steps

1) Trace different color circles using the templates ( click HERE for templates )

2) Cut a variety of patterns and shapes

3) Glue circles from center, small to big on a square piece of paper
